Look for the High Payouts in Poker Pursuit
Poker Pursuit is Microgaming's latest edition to online poker games. It is a fun poker variation, and it is a great game for the lone gambler.
In Poker Pursuit you don't play against other poker players or against the dealer. The aim of the game is simply to get a good hand which will award you a significant payout. You choose the size of the coin you wish to play, and you choose to "call" or "raise" according to the value of your hand. The "call" or "raise" decision is sometimes difficult to make, but that is what makes Poker Pursuit one of the more interesting online poker games.
How to Play Poker Pursuit
This online "solitaire" of poker games is really easy to play. Although it is based on 5-Card Draw, no real strategy is involved - just concentration and good thinking.
You begin the game by selecting your coin size which will be the amount of your initial bet. You then click the Deal button and you receive three cards. If you think you can better your hand, you click on "Raise" and one more coin will be added to your bet and one more card will be dealt to you. If you don't wish to raise, you can click "Call" and receive the fourth card. This same situation applies to getting your fifth card. You can either "Call" or "Raise" and then receive your fifth card.
Payouts are made according to the value of your hand and the amount of coins you have bet. The Poker Pursuit display shows clearly the number of coins you can win as per the result of your hand and coins betted.
Poker Pursuit Hand Values
Before you start playing Poker Pursuit, it is important to know what kinds of hands are winning hands. In general, the winning hands are ranked pretty much like standard 5-Card Draw, as follows with the highest rank first:
Royal Flush
Straight Flush
Four of a Kind
Full House
Flush
Straight
Three of a Kind
Two Pairs
Tens or Better
Thus it is understood that the lowest winning hand is a pair of tens. This is where all your decision making on whether or not to raise occurs. If your first three cards are low, it would be pointless to raise. And, again, if you have one ten and two other cards, it wouldn't be smart to raise in the expectation of getting another ten.
On the other hand, if your first three cards are all one suit, a raise would be in order in the hopes of making a flush. These kinds of decisions are what make Poker Pursuit exciting and fun. Winning at Poker Pursuit depends entirely on the value of your poker hand. There aren't many poker games that are so easy to play and still give you a good chance to win.
